Thousands of people were still without power across the Carolinas after a cold front swept through the region with wind and rain.
Duke Energy reported that nearly 15,000 customers were still without service early Thursday. More than 10,000 customers were without service in Anderson, Greenville and Spartanburg counties in South Carolina.
More than 1,000 customers were still powerless in the Charlotte area.
Progress Energy reported fewer than 200 customers without service early Thursday. South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. reported service had been restored to its customers.
Winter storm advisories and warnings have been issued in the North Carolina mountains where forecasters say up to 5 inches of snow could fall in higher elevations and 1 to 2 inches in valleys.
