Post offices are getting ready for what is expected to be the busiest mailing day of the year.
Christmas cards addressed and stamped this weekend are expected to wash into local post offices today. But post offices report the slowing economy will likely reduce the amount of mail collected today.
And while today's deluge is expected to be at least double the daily average, it is also expected to be less than what was processed last year on the second to last Monday before Christmas. 960 million cards and letters are expected to be processed today.
Wednesday will be the busiest delivery day.
