A 13 year old Pactulos Elementary Student died Monday morning after being hit by a vehicle Saturday night.
Fransico Santiago was walking to the Trademart across Highway 264 back to his home with two of his friends when he was hit by a car going westbound. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later died. His friends and family are all shocked by the accident.
An investigation is still ongoing, but so far no charges have been made.

The Highway Patrol says a driver hit the young man on Highway 264 in Greenville near the Pitt County Fairgrounds on Saturday. Troopers say Santiago and three other friends had been playing basketball when they crossed the highway to go to a nearby store. The teen was struck when he attempted to cross back over the highway.
Troopers say Santiago had no vital signs at the scene of the accident Saturday night, but crews revived him with CPR and transported him to the hospital. Officials said early Monday morning that Santiago did not survive his injuries.
The driver of the car, an ECU student, will not face any charges.
