The streets quickly filled with Barack Obama supporters in Greenville Tuesday night.

Hundreds of Obama volunteers watched the election coverage at Starlight Restaurant. Many of them began to pour into the streets of West Fifth and Evans, with signs waving in the air and tears in their eyes, when Barack Obama was named president. Young and old came together to see this historic event of an African-American man making this dream come true.

Supporter Elijah Jackson said, "This goes far beyond race it brought people of all ethnicities together for a common cause, who was the right person for the job."

Greenville Police quickly offered crowd control and rerouted traffic around fifth street. Witnesses say a crowd of McCain supporters caused some tension during the celebration, but we had no reports of misconduct.
