A senior at J.H. Rose High School in Greenville is not letting time on the sidelines go to waste. Elizabeth Stephenson is too injured to run cross-country for her school this fall, so she's getting others to run for a good cause.
Stephenson's senior project at the high school has been to plan a fundraiser for the Little Willie Center. The center in West Greenville offers an alternative for parents who may otherwise have to leave their children home alone after school.
Stephenson has organized the Little Willie Center 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run. It is scheduled for Sunday, November 2 at the Greenville Town Common. The fee is $25, though it's only $15 to members of a high school cross country team for the fall 2008 season. Proceeds go to the Little Willie Center.
This is not Stephenson's first brush with service. She has also spent time volunteering with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Pitt County and took a service trip to Nicaragua.
