The Economic Policy Institute says North Carolina ranks eighth in the country for the amount of jobs lost here because of the U.S. trade deficit with China. The report says North Carolina lost nearly 80,000 jobs between 2001 and 2007, including 12,000 in just the last year.
On average nationwide, the institute says the average worker with a four year degree is making $1,400 less, because of competition with China.
The report was supported by the Alliance for American Manufacturing.
