The Pitt County School Board will discuss the issue of school choice at its meeting Monday night.
Schools who do not meet No Child Left Behind standards may have to allow parents to transfer their children to other schools. If a school does not meet the benchmark two years in a row, the school may have to allow parents to request their child be transferred to another school. The Pitt County School Board will discuss how to handle that issue this year at Monday's meeting.
The meeting will also be the first time the Pitt County School Board has met since the arrest of one of its members. Billy Ray Peaden was arrested in July after lawmen say they found illegal video poker machines in his convenience stores in Pitt County.
