The Brody School of Medicine has named a new dean, and he's a familiar face.
Dr. Paul R.G. Cunningham will return to Greenville from New York, where he's worked since 2002. Prior to that, he was on staff at the Brody School of Medicine for more than 20 years, according to a press release.
While in New York, Cunningham worked at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse as chair of the Department of Surgery.
Cunningham will replace Dr. Phyllis Horns, who has been serving as interim dean of the medical school. The press release says Cunningham will begin his new role as dean on September 15.
The release also says moving to Greenville will put Cunningham and his wife, Sydney, closer to their four children. They all live in North Carolina.
