This will be no ordinary Monday for many students in North Carolina. The new week will begin with End of Grade Tests, or EOGs.
These standardized tests are designed to measure how much a student has learned over the school year in English and Math. The tests are given to third through eighth graders.
The tests serve many purposes. For some kids, the test scores will determine whether a child will advance to the next grade level. They are also used to measure No Child Left Behind standards and bonuses for teachers.
