Raleigh police say two motorists are dead and a third in the hospital after one of the drivers was speeding in the wrong direction on Interstate 40 and slammed into another vehicle.
Police say the head-on interstate crash happened about 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
Officers said 28-year-old Carolina Linares of Morrisville was driving her Toyota sedan east in the westbound lanes of I-40 when it hit a Ford light truck driven by 21-year-old that Natanael Hernandez of Raleigh. His passenger 17-year-old Job Hernandez was killed. The two men lived at the same address, but police did not say if they were related.
Investigators estimated both cars were going about 65 mph when they hit, making the impact speed 130 mph.
