Update On New State Medicaid System After Rocky Rollout

Lawmakers are expecting more information from North Carolina health officials about how a new and expensive Medicaid billing system is now performing after a rocky first few months in operation.

A General Assembly oversight committee for the Department of Health and Human Services scheduled time Tuesday in its meeting to get an update on the NCTracks system.

Legislators peppered DHHS leaders at last month's meeting about complaints they had received about delayed or rejected claims, unhelpful call center workers and complicated medical coding. Agency leaders said they were working to fix problems but some defects would take up to six months to resolve.

The oversight committee plans to create a subcommittee to keep tabs on NCTracks and the system's vendor.
