Two Tyrrell County men accused of robbing a man on the street are in jail Wednesday morning.
Tyrrell County deputies were unlocking a car when they say a man told them he was robbed around 7:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Fonsoe and Railroad Street in Columbia.
Officials investigated and identified 24-year-old Jimmie Childress and 21-year-old Daquan Spencer, both of Columbia, as the robbers.
After getting search warrants for the men, deputies arrested Childress and Spencer and charged them with common law robbery and assault and battery, among others.
Both men are no strangers to breaking the law. Childress' criminal record dates back to 2008 with charges, such as assault on an officer, while Spencer's record started in 2009.
Childress and Spencer are being held at the Washington County Detention Center under a $10,000 bond.
