Deputies say two relatives were found dead inside a home in Turkey, that's in Sampson County.
Corporal Marcus Smith with the Sampson County Sheriff's Office said deputies first responded to a 911 call at 3660 New Hope Church Road in Turkey around 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Once deputies were on scene, they found the body of 39-year old Carlos Vazquez dead inside his home. Also found dead, a 18-year-old woman, Itzel Vasquez of Fayetteville. Deputies said the two are related, but have not disclosed how yet.
Investigators are waiting on an autopsy report from the state lab before confirming the causes of death for both.
WRAL-TV reports that family members told them the two were father and daughter. They told the television station the man first killed his daughter and then shot and killed himself.
Deputies said they believe this is an isolated incident and no one in the area is in danger.
Ten years ago, the father was credited for saving the life of his daughter during a fire at their Clinton home. Two other people died in that fire, which may have been caused by a Christmas tree being left on overnight.
