Two teenagers are dead following injuries suffered in a car crash on U.S. Route 158 near Country Club Road in Camden County, Saturday night.
Our sister station, WAVY, says that Highway Patrol identified the two as 18-year-old Denzel Hicks, and 16-year-old Jeremy McPherson.
Troopers say that the two Camden County High School football players were inside a Mustang with 18-year-old driver, Demetre Brooks, and McPherson’s 17-year-old brother, Steven.
Officials say that Brooks was heading west on U.S. 158 around 10:30 p.m., when he lost control, and swerved into the path of a Chevrolet Suburban. The crash ejected Hicks, and both McPherson brothers. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other died at Albemarle Hospital.
Troopers say Steven McPherson was air lifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Brooks was taken to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.
According to troopers, neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the accident. The four people inside of the Suburban were treated and released from a local hospital.
