The State Employees Credit Union says some of its customers have received phishing emails, and they are warning against the scam attempt.
SECU posted a message on its website, saying members have reported getting an email alert that includes a confirmation code. The email instructs people to use the code to verify and activate their accounty info. SECU says the email looks officials, bearing the SECU logo. However, it's a scam.
The credit union, like most financial institutions, will not ask for personal or account information in an email. They ask people who have received this email to call 888-732-8562 or e-mail notifyus@ncsecu.org.
