Early on Wednesday morning, a South Carolina college confirmed a 19-year-old sophomore at the school died after being shot at a residence hall.

Coastal Carolina University posted on it's website at 12:45 Wednesday morning that Anthony Liddell from Bennettsville died overnight after being shot at University Place residence hall.

The college's website also cites the CCU Department of Public Safety's chief, David Roper, saying there was no apparent threat to students, faculty, or staff at the school.

School spokeswoman Martha Hunn told reporters that dispatchers got the call of a shooting on campus around 7:20PM on Tuesday, and overnight the gunman was still at large.

Residence halls were locked down while the search for the suspect continued through Tuesday night.

Starting at 8AM on Wednesday, the college said there would be counseling available at the school's Lackey Chapel.

Classes will resume Wednesday morning as scheduled, as the campus police perceive no active threat to the college.

No word yet on any arrests.
