You may recall how Hurricane Irene washed away portions of the highway causing breaches on Pea Island and Rodanthe back in August.
A temporary bridge reconnected the venerable roadway to keep traffic flowing, but the DOT will begin to make plans for a more permanent fix.
The NCDOT wants feedback from the public,first, to determine the best solution for the only road on the Outer Banks.
On Monday, DOT officials will hold a public workshop from 4pm until 7pm at the Dare County Administration Building in Manteo.
Another public forum is Tuesday, Dec. 6, from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at the
Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Center in Rodanthe.
