The Occupy Raleigh movement is marking its first anniversary with a rally on the grounds of the State Capitol.
The rally will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. Occupy Raleigh is celebrating a new movement promoting the interests of Americans who aren't among the country's richest 1 percent.
The event also will collect food, winter coats and blankets for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and other charities.
Protesters held a rally Oct. 15, 2011 at the Capitol, and demonstrated for several weeks. Twenty protesters were arrested for refusing the leave the Capitol grounds after the rally. Others were arrested when authorities cleared the sidewalk where they set up after the rally.
