Onslow County Students, Staff Honor Life Of Former Student

A local community is honoring the life of a former student who lost his battle with cancer.

Students and staff at Onslow County Learning Center will dedicate a race car track they built to celebrate the life of Jacob Baltosser Friday.

Jacob died last December after battling Rhabomyosarcoma Cancer for seven months.

Rhabomyosarcoma is a cancerous tumor of the muscles attached to bones that can start nearly anywhere on the body.

During his treatment at Duke University, Jacob would go to Northwest Mall and play with its indoor remote car race track, which took his mind off of his illness.

Wanting to honor their classmate, students wrote a grant to Lowe's to obtain the materials needed to build the track.

The track will be used by students at Thompson Early Childhood Center, Queens Creek Elementary School and the Classroom Without Walls.

The race car track dedication will be 9:30 a.m. Friday in Hubert.
