A teacher in western North Carolina is on paid administrative leave after parents complained she tied an elementary student to a chair, put tape over his mouth and slapped him.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reported Tuesday that Clay County Schools have completed an internal investigation into the allegation at Hayesville Elementary.
Schools Superintendent Scott Penland is expected to decide whether further personnel action is taken against the teacher. The Citizen-Times did not disclose the teacher's name, pending his decision.
The newspaper reported the incident was witnessed by other students in the class, who told parents. It was not immediately clear whether school officials have been in contact with the parents of the boy who was allegedly assaulted.
No criminal charges have been filed.
