NC Police Shoot Man Suspected In 3 Deaths

Three people have been killed following a violent break-in at a Fayetteville residence, and police say the suspect has been shot and wounded.

Sgt. Gary Womble says police were called to a home Saturday morning after a report of a break-in. They found two people dead inside and three others wounded.

One of the wounded later died after being taken to a nearby hospital.

Womble says police chased the suspect first in his car and then on foot before shooting and wounding him. He's been taken to a hospital. Information on his condition was not immediately available Saturday.

Police say they'll release the names of the people involved once family members have been notified.

The State Bureau of Investigation, which handles all cases involving police shootings, has been called in.
