NC Deputy Killed In Crash While Responding To Call

A Bladen County sheriff's deputy has been killed in a car crash while responding to a call.

Deputies say 39-year-old Deputy Dwayne Charles Hester died in a crash just before 11 p.m. Friday.

Authorities say Hester was responding to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon. No details on the crash have been released.

Funeral arrangements are still pending for Hester, who is survived by his wife and two children. Authorities say Hester had been a deputy for about a year and previously served as a police officer in Elizabethtown.
