Authorities have identified a man that Union County deputies say was killed after he broke into a home in Marshville.
Investigators said 25-year-old Robby Blount kicked in the door of the home around 1 a.m. Thursday, wearing a mask and waving a gun.
Deputies say a woman and her son were in the home. One of them called 911, while the other got a shotgun and shot Blount once in the chest, killing him.
Authorities have not identified the mother and son or said which one fired the fatal shot. Investigators will consult with prosecutors to see if any charges should be filed.
Blount is the seventh person killed by someone else in and around Marshville in the past year.
