A 30-year-old Sanford man has been accused of killing an infant in his care.

Lowell police say Jason Moore was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree murder and two counts of felony child abuse.

Police say Moore was a friend of the child's mother and sometimes babysat for the girl.

Lowell police were called to a hospital Aug. 13 in response to a 3-month-old girl who showed signs of child abuse. Authorities say she had a fractured skull and burns on her feet and legs.

The girl, Addison Rose Waller, was later transferred to a Charlotte hospital, where she died Aug. 17 after being removed from life support.

Moore was being held without bond in the Gaston County jail. It wasn't known if he had an attorney.
