Mother Earth Brewery in Kinston left a good taste in the mouths of beer drinkers in the centennial state.
After a weekend at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado, Mother Earth Brewery was awarded the bronze in bohemian-style pilseners.
Ninkasi Brewing Company of Oregon took the gold in the same category, followed by Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant in Colorado with their Czech Pilsener.
Mother Earth's Bohemian Pilsenr earned the third place title at the festival.
The brew displayed "a fine example of the style that may vary slightly from style parameters and/or have minor deviations in taste, aroma or appearance," according to the judging criteria.
The Carolina Brewery in Chapel Hill and Wicked Weed Brewing in Ashville also earned honors.
The festival's website says nearly 600 brew masters showcase their frothy beverages in 75 different categories.
