Labor Leaders, NAACP To Urge Voter Registration

National labor leaders are joining the president of the North Carolina conference of the NAACP to push for voter registration campaigns, especially in the South.

A news conference is scheduled for Sunday at Greenleaf Christian Church in Goldsboro and follows discussions that were slated for Saturday night. The labor groups will join Rev. William J. Barber, president of the North Carolina State Conference of the NAACP.

The gathering comes on the eve of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.

Barber said the groups need to address policies that impact labor rights, voting rights and defending democracy.
