PLEASANT GARDEN, N.C. (AP) -- Hundreds filled the sanctuary of a Guilford County church to join a family as it buried five children killed in what investigators are describing as a family massacre.
So many children, teenagers and teachers attended the funeral on Friday at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church that the overflow crowd had to sit in the gym of the Family Life Center to watch a live video feed.
The funeral was held for the five children between 8 and 17 gunned down in a shooting rampage by 36-year-old Mary Ann Holder.
Officers say Holder apparently shot one of her sons and three other children while they slept at her Pleasant Garden home, shot and wounded her married former lover, then killed her younger son. Holder then killed herself.
