A former district attorney in southeastern North Carolina will spend some time on the other side of the bench when he heads to court.
Rex Gore is accused In a grand jury indictment of approving false expense reports for one of his assistant D.A's, Elaine Kelly.
Special prosecutors accuse Kelly of lying about travel expenses and ultimately raking in $14,000 from the state.
Gore maintains the money was part of her compensation package.
Gore served as the district attorney for Brunswick, Columbus and Bladen counties for 20 years.
