UPDATE: Funeral Arrangements Announced For Fallen Volunteer Fire Chief

Funeral arrangements have been made for a fallen firefighter chief in eastern Carolina.

The Knotts Island Fire Department says that Chief Scott Morrison will be laid to rest Sunday, March 10th. Family will receive friends this evening from 7 – 9 p.m. at Holloman-Brown Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Knotts Island Volunteer Fire Department.

Chief Morrison lost his life last Sunday following cardiac and respiratory complications suffered while battling a brush fire on Knotts Island.

The department says that if you are planning to attend the memorial service we strongly suggest that you arrive on the island at least one hour prior to the start of the services. Follow signs for parking assignments, shuttle buses will be running from the parking areas to the Knotts Island VFD. Carpooling is encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Knotts Island Fire Department. Condolences may be made to the Morrison Family via email at chiefmorrisonmemorial@gmail.com.

A fire chief in the east has died following respiratory and cardiac complications during a battle with a brush fire.

Currituck County officials say Knotts Island Volunteer Fire Department Chief Scott Morrison collapsed into respiratory and cardiac arrest. It happened as firefighters were suppressing a brush fire around 3:18 p.m. Sunday on Knotts Island.

Morrison was treated at the scene by Currituck EMS, and died while on the way to a hospital in Virginia. Efforts to revive Chief Morrison were not successful.

The 45-year-old Morrison is survived by a wife and two children.
