Embezzlement Charges For PTA VP In Fayetteville

The vice president of the parent-teacher association at an elementary school in Fayetteville has been arrested and charged with embezzlement.

The Fayetteville Observer reported 28-year-old Shaquanna Shene McAllister of Fayetteville turned herself in to Cumberland County sheriff's deputies Wednesday.

McAlister is accused of taking the money from Cliffdale Elementary School.

The sheriff's office says McAlister is accused of taking nearly $4,000 from the $10,000 raised from the sale of cookies, candles and gifts between September and December.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Tanna says the missing money was discovered by the PTA treasurer when the orders arrived at the school.

It wasn't clear if McAlister has an attorney.

These schools should stop trying to raise so much money! Raise your own money! Let the principal collect the money! Putting people in charge that are struggling! What you expect!?
