Decorated Fridge Prompts Bomb Scare

Note to people who decorate their refrigerators: It might be a good idea to stay away from the attack helicopter look.

The Herald-Sun of Durham reports that a discarded fridge decorated to resemble an Apache helicopter brought the sheriff's office bomb squad to a local landfill Thursday.

Lt. Tony Prignano says the sheriff's office was called after someone spotted the icebox, which was painted black with military-style markings and signs that referred to explosives. The refrigerator was also locked.

Using a robot, the bomb squad found no explosives inside. The appliance's former owner told police he locked it to prevent children from getting trapped inside.

No charges will be filed.

Prignano says he's not sure why the owner decided to decorate the refrigerator that way.

Maybe he should consider recycling the next old appliance. Then there will be no need for a bomb squad even if he paints it to look like a nuke!

What's really fun is chunking an inert gernade among some cops. Watch em run!

The "proper" way to dispose of a refrigerator has always been to remove the doors. Putting a lock on the door leads to suspicion that something that shouldn't be inside is.

Another way for the government to infringe upon your privacy. Is everything a bomb threat or a mental illness? These people are CRAZY, for real.Don't people have the right to decorate their property the way that they want to?

"No charges will be filed"....ya think? Maybe because the guy did nothing against the law! I hope it never gets to the point where...."Sir, you are under arrest." "Well, what am I being charged with?" "You are being charged with painting your refrigerator in a manner that the government has deemed inappropriate."
