Deadly NC Memorial Day Weekend Wrecks More Than Double 2012 Fatalities

The Highway Patrol says this past Memorial Day holiday weekend had more than double the fatal wrecks than the same time last year. 13 people were killed in wrecks across the state between 6:00 p.m. Friday and ran until Monday at midnight. The same time last year saw 5 fatal accidents.

There were 2 fatal wrecks in the east in Greenville and in Wilson.

State Road 1624 (2.3 miles west of Hamlet)
State Road 1750 (7.2 miles south of Greenville)
State Road 1413 (5 miles east of Littleton)
US64 (2 miles south of Knightdale)*
State Road 1201 (19.1 miles west from Lillington)
State Road 1130 (5.6 miles north of Holden Beach)
*Resulted in double fatality
