DNC Deposits $4 Million Into Durham Banks

The Democratic National Convention is in Charlotte this September, and keeping with tradition the DNC donated money to minority-owned banks in the state.

Wednesday the committee deposited $2 million to Mechanics and Farmers Bank and the Latino Community Credit Union both in Durham. The funds will help small businesses get loans

"We are doing this because it is a key part of what our messaging is around the Democratic National Convention and a part of what our legacy we hope to leave here in North Carolina," Said DNC Committee CEO Steve Kerrigan.

The convention funds are from a federal election commission grant.

Just sounds like supporting small business to me. Something you'll hear every Repug talk about and, of course, vote NO when it comes to actually doing something. Don't worry, BOA will be just fine.

Yea, that was a shellacking that the entire United States suffered from. Are you proud of the GOP congress with the 9% approval rating? Do you think anyone wants more of these GOP Clowns?

Yeah, I am glad the republicans still have the higher approval than the democrats in Congress....Harry Reid? He might stay in the senate but as the minority leader. Then we can finally get bills passed to help the economy, jobs and get rid of Obimbocare.

One way to get around the laws and buy votes.
  • by Anonymous on Jan 5, 2012 at 06:33 AM
Sounds like vote buying to me. They really should keep the money they will need it to clean up the mess after the convention this summer. Also to help pay for the extra security and not leave it to the tax payers in the area to foot the bill for thier mess.

With what the ABC stores will pull in security and cleanup should be covered, but if they want to balance the state budget tax the hookers.

Perdue should never use the word un-Constitutional, unless she is talking about herself.

Is that legal? Does that mean the DNC can write it off taxes at the end of the year because it's a 'charitable' donation, or is it considered a gift? Does this mean the Republicans can contribute to non-minority banks without insulting anyone?

There you go, the DNC is racially profiling, actually this is racial discrimination in my book. I know you can donate money to any group you want but this is still racist.

Ever wonder why the banks had to be minority owned? Its the ultimate in vote buying - money actually changed hands. Seems all the demoncrats want is Other People's Money without having to work for it
