Coast Guard Airlifts Woman From Cruise Ship Near Oregon Inlet

Coast Guard crews from Elizabeth City medevaced a woman from a cruise ship hundreds of miles off our coast Monday.

Coast Guard officials say the 72-year-old woman was experiencing medical problems aboard the cruise ship Carnival Miracle approximately 210 miles offshore of Oregon Inlet. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and an HC 130 Hercules aircraft were launched. The crew hoisted the woman and her husband aboard and took them to Sentara Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.
