Camp Lejeune Marine Killed In Afghanistan

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) -- Military officials say a Marine based at Camp Lejeune has been killed in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense announced Friday that 21-year-old Lance Cpl. Scott D. Harper of Winston, Ga., died Oct. 13 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province.

Harper was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune.
