UPDATE: OBX Murder Suspect Spotted In Ohio

An active search is underway for the man accused of murdering his girlfriend in the Outer Banks.

Someone told police they think they saw Nate Summerfield. The search is underway in Columbus, Ohio, according to our sister station there, NBC 4. A woman told police she spotted a man matching Summerfield's description at her apartment complex, in a car that matched his vehicle description.

Columbus is about 80 miles south of Ashland, Ohio, where Lynn Jackenheimer was from.

The autopsy for the 33-year-old mother of two showed she died from being strangled and stab wounds. Her body was found in Frisco in Dare County Saturday. We will keep you posted on the search for Summerfield.

Authorities say an Ohio woman, whose body was found Saturday in a remote area of Dare County, was stabbed and strangled to death.

Lynn Jackenheimer was last seen July 4th while vacationing with her boyfriend and two children in Salvo. Her body was discovered Saturday in Frisco, about 20 miles away.

Sheriff Doug Doughtie says they have been in contact with federal authorities, as well as those from Ohio, about locating the woman's on-again, off-again boyfriend. A murder warrant for Nate Summerfield was issued Monday afternoon.

Doughtie says if they are able to locate Summerfield, there is information that only he can provide.

Summerfield dropped the woman's two children off in Ashland, Ohio and hasn't been heard from since then.

The on-again, off-again boyfriend of an Ohio woman has now been charged with her murder.

Dare County deputies issued a murder warrant against Nate Summerfield for the death of Lynn Jackenheimer.

The 33-year-old woman's body was found Saturday in Frisco in a trash bag. The body was identified late this afternoon as the missing Ashland, Ohio woman.

The warrant says Summerfield killed the woman on July 4. The 27-year-old man has not been seen since he dropped off the woman's two children after returning from vacation.

Summerfield's brother called 911 and said the man called him and said he strangled Jackenheimer. That call was made on July 8.

Deputies say a body found this weekend in Frisco in a trash bag is that of a missing Ohio woman. This as there are now warrants out for the woman's on-again, off-again boyfriend.

The Dare County Sheriff's Office says the cause of death for Lynn Jackenheimer has not been determined.

The 33-year-old woman from Ashland, Ohio, disappeared July 4th while vacationing on Hatteras Island.

Jackenheimer was reported missing when she didn't come home with her two children and her on-and-off boyfriend, Nate Summerfield.

Police say Summerfield dropped the children off in Ashland and drove off.

Her body was found Saturday afternoon in Frisco by a man who said he was doing paperwork nearby and smelled a bad odor. "I think I may have possibly found a body in a trash bag, that girl from Ohio," the man told 911. He said at first he thought someone had placed a dead turtle in the trash bag, but then noticed a Hooters shirt.

Sheriff Doug Doughtie tells WITN News there are now warrants out for Summerfield, but he wouldn't say what those charges are. Summerfield's brother called 911 in Ohio saying his brother told him he had strangled the woman and left her body under some bushes.
