The North Carolina Coast Guard says two people are safe following rescue by good samaritans, after their boat flipped over in the Bogue Inlet.
Officials say a 24 ft small boat was launched from Emerald Isle to where the call came from about a 16 foot boat being overturned. When they arrived, good samaritans had already recovered the 2 people from the water.
Both of the boaters are said to be in good condition and were taken back to Emerald Isle to await family members.
The call came in around 5:27 Saturday evening.
A safety broadcast is being issued by the Coast Guard. The overturned boat has been anchored in the Bogue Inlet until the owners know what they want to do with it.
The U.S. Coast Guard out of Fort Macon says that a 16 foot vessel has overturned in Bogue Inlet.
There are few details at this time, other than that they were engaged in locating the boat. The Coast Guard confirmed the overturn around 5:45 p.m.
There is no word on how many people were on board, or if there were any injuries.
