The countdown is on! Taxes are due April 17th, and local tax preparers say business is starting to pick up.

At Jackson Hewitt in Greenville several people were getting their taxes done Thursday. General Manager Lois Daniels says they've been seeing about 25 people a day, but says she expects the business to see about 70 people a day as the tax deadline gets closer.

Daniels says if you're having your taxes prepared for you, there's a few things you can do to make sure it goes smoothly.

"The best thing they can do is have everything ready when they get here - have all their income documentation ready, all their deductions and credits that they know they're entitled to. Have all their information ready to provide to us and that makes the process go a lot faster," said Daniels.

If there's no way you can get your taxes done by the 17th, Daniels suggests filing an extension, which gives you until October to file your taxes. She says like tax returns, extensions must be filed no later than midnight on April 17.
