(NBC News) The annual Airline Quality Ratings Report released Monday shows a dramatic drop in complaints from the flying public last year, even though more flights ran late and more bags were mishandled or lost.
The researchers from Embry-Riddle University and Wichita State who put the report together say that's because passengers have lowered expectations.
"I think the consuming public has just said 'Look, just get me on the airplane..if it shows up within a half hour of when it's supposed to and gets there and my bags there, I'm outta here'," says Wichita State's Dean Headley.
Airline critics go further, and say flyers are just frustrated.
"I think that a lot of the complaints have gone down because people have just given up complaining," says Charlie Leocha of Travelers United.
