Police Say NC Man Tortured Child

Police have arrested a North Carolina man after investigators say he tortured a 4-year-old girl left in his care.

Johnston County sheriff's spokeswoman Tammy Amaon said the girl remained in critical condition Saturday at UNC Hospitals.

Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell says 21-year-old Douglas Richardson of Smithfield was charged with felony child abuse with severe bodily injury after he took the child to a hospital Friday claiming she had been hurt in a fall from a bed.

Bizzell said there was evidence of sexual abuse and the girl had a serious head injury along with bites, cuts and bruises all over her body.

Richardson was being held at the Johnston County jail. It was not clear whether he has an attorney.

They should have that scumbag sent to prison for life. What an awful person doing that to a helpless 4 year old girl! He is a prime example of a sorry piece of road trash.

until we start cracking down and stop slapping child abusers on the hand this is going to keep happening. It's time to crack down. If they do have to be out in society tattoo and in big bold letter on their forehead above their eyes (CHILD MOLESTER) OR (MURDERER) OR (THIEF). So sick of all of this! Or better yet, brand it on their forehead! And I don't want to hear how the poor criminals have rights. . . they don't.

What is going on with these people? Everytime we look around, our little children are being killed, raped, molested, or abused. What is this world coming to? The law needs to let the family members of the little babies have their day with the person that has hurt their child. The laws should be stiffer for anyone doing this to our little babies!

this monster will be punished in hell. May the good Lord and angels protect this little girl, to keep her safe and help her to trust again. She needs to be in loving care with emotional stability and help.

I have worked in the prison system and what is sad is that guys like this enjoy the treatment they get in the system by other inmates. SICK! The state needs a zero tolerance policy. What really makes you sick is that they get released only to do it again to someone else's child.

Dear Anyonymous, that is totally not true. That man or thing who did this to this child couldn't do anything to any adult. He is a coward and a pervert and sicko. He is not able to harm anyone other than a small sickly person. He is to cowardly to stand up to any real woman, or man for that matter. The man who did this deserves death but of course because our systems are so nice he will not get much of nothing.
