Deadly Plane Crash Near Myrtle Beach

Authorities have confirmed three people headed to North Carolina died after their small plane crashed into a mobile home near the South Carolina coast.

George Patterson of Concord, N.C., said Thursday his friend Danny Carroll, wife Rachel Carroll and their granddaughter died in the crash Wednesday night in North Myrtle Beach.

Patterson works at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis and says he's known Carroll for more than 30 years. He says Carroll co-owned another funeral home.

North Myrtle Beach city spokeswoman Nicole Aiello (EYE-el-low) said Thursday the trio was vacationing in the area.

Aiello says their plane took off from Grand Strand Regional Airport and crashed just before 9 p.m. Wednesday.

She says two people on the ground were taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
