Maggots Force Charlotte Bound Plane Back To Atlanta

A flight bound for North Carolina was forced to return to the gate in Atlanta after passengers noticed maggots falling from an overhead bin.

U.S. Airways spokesman Todd Lehmacher says the maggots were in a container of spoiled meat that a passenger brought onto the plane Monday.

The plane returned to the gate and passengers got off so cleaning crews could clean the overhead bin.

Lehmacher says the flight then continued on to Charlotte, where the plane was taken out of service and fumigated out of an "abundance of caution."

It was a group of immigrants who had come from Miami originally. Two of the passengers had multiple suitcases full of fish and meat, which had spoiled in the heat. They even had to stop a bus they were on because they thought it was the bus that smelled. It wasnt until the flight that they realized exactly what it was. I would have been sick all over the place.

I *think* the writer was trying to say a passenger brought a container of meat onto the plane on Monday, and then it spoiled because it as left there. I'm just guessing but that makes more sense than someone lugging around spoile, maggot infested meat. You have to play interpretor with these stories sometimes. *sigh* And proofreader. And mindreader....
