Hundreds Of New Jobs Headed To Eastern Carolina

An Eastern Carolina county with one of the highest unemployment rates in the state is going to get a well needed boost in jobs.

The Glenoit Fabrics facility in Tarboro is going to be the new home of Jade Apparel. The New Jersey company is expanding.

Local officials say Jade is teaming up with Glenoit to use its facilities and will invest about 2-million dollars and create about 250 new jobs in the next 3-years. One-hundred of those positions could be added in the next 24-months.

At the Glenoit plant, Jade will focus on manufacturing apparel for the military.

The reason that no jobs are coming to Washington is because of the policies of town. No voicemail? It's because they don't want have the "push 1 for Spanish option." No companies want to come somewhere they can't get cheap labor!

WELL I BELEIVE IT WHEN IT HAPPENS. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT GLENOIT DOES NOT KNOW WHEN JADE WILL BE HERE. SOMEONE IS GETTING THE PEOPLE IN EDGECOMBE FALSE HOPE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR AND IF IT HAPPENS IT WILL PROBABLY BE ANOTHER YEAR. DO NOT GET THE HOPES OF THESE PEOPLE UP UNTIL IT IS A DONE DEAL

I'm tired of reading stories about new jobs coming to different cities in North Carolina, but there is no new jobs coming to Lil Washington. It's ridiculous, they bring a gas station here that only a few people can work at, like two people on every shift. We need some more jobs here, people are suffering and I am one of them. Washington has alot of potential, we could definitly use some more reasturants and other businesses. I can't afford to drive to other counties just to seek employment, it terrible here. We deserve a change.

i too worked at Glenoit. As ALvania said you do not get rich, but if you live with in your means and stop trying to keep up with everyone else, you will be ok. Everyone is looking a had out. No, you will not get rich it's a JOB. They are not claiming to be giving lottery tickets. when you have a JOB you actually have to WORK. That is what responsible adults are supposed to do. Be thankful there are jobs coming close to home. STOP CRITIZING OTHERS EFFORTS!!! IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH WHAT OTHERS ARE DOING YOU NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT YOURSELF.

These are indirect government jobs. No doubt needed jobs and I am glad they are in the US but your tax dollars are being used to pay for the products. Given that obama is CUTTING military spending he has nothing to do with this. Like every other job in this country today it exists DESPITE obama and the dems.

Lavon and DataMan, Please read this aritcle at CNBC http://www.cnbc.com/id/38013729. Seems that Oblamea is not creating the jobs in the private sector as you would like others to believe.

At least it will help being down the unemployment rate and more people can get back on their feet. Lavon, your ignorance is showing. I highly doubt Obama knows where Tarboro is.

I am guessing that these potential jobs comming to edgecombe county are a direct results of our wonderful governors campaigning on her trips to germany ,japan , an what ever place that she supposly vited while vacationing on the taxpayers dime. oh that right though this jobs are comming from new jersey an not overseas so bevs couldn't have anything to do with securing thes jobs for edgecombe county. for all she iis instrested in is handing out of incentive package deals packages to big coporate instrest an special instrest groups that are just promising to locate here with jobs in north carolina an half the time these so call jobs never materilize thank you

I THINK IT IS A GOOD THING THAT JADA IS COMING TO TARBORO,HOWEVER JADA AND GLENOIT WILL BE TWO DIFFERENT COMPANIES IN THE SAME BUILDING.AND TO MADMAX,YOU WON'T GET RICH WORKING ANYWHERE,IF YOU SPEND MORE THAT YOU MAKE. I HAVE WORKED AT GLENOIT FOR NEARLY 30 YEARS AND I DIDN'T GET RICH,BUT I DIDN'T LOSE ANYTHING,I AM NOT HUNGER AND I AM LIVING COMFORTABLE AND I THANK GOD AND GLENOIT MANAGEMENT FOR WHAT THEY DID FOOR ME.
