Voter Turnout For Tuesday's Primary--Better Than 2006 Numbers

If you cast your vote on Tuesday for the primaries you were one of the 877,400 voters, statewide, who fulfilled their civic duty, which is a slight improvement from year's past.

According to the State Board of Elections, statewide, 14 percent of voters came out for the non-presidential primary.

In 2006, it was 12 percent statewide. In the east, you can see Beaufort county had 20% voter participation on Tuesday, Craven county received 12%, Lenoir at 15 %, Pitt county saw 16%, followed by Onslow county with 14%.

The highest turnout in the east goes to Tyrrell county with 46%, and the lowest was Dare county with 3% participation.
