New Bern Tea Party

Several hundred people gathered Thursday in downtown New Bern for one of many Tea Party rallies held across eastern Carolina.

Judy Rainier said, "It's time they listen to the people. We have spoken and they refuse to hear us. That is why I am here today. Hear my voice! You are doing the American people wrong!"

That enthusiasm was carried over as participants marched step-by-step through the downtown streets of New Bern ending at Union Point Park.

Nancy Lane said, "Everybody is paying taxes today and we're paying for things we don't really approve of. And, that's not America."

While the majority of the people at the rally promoted their version of patriotic values--some, like Lottie Willoughby, say those values are not exactly their cup of tea. "I think that the president is doing a great job. This did not just begin at his term. There's a lot of things you have to get straight before you begin anything."

Sam, you actually believe what a politician says? Even the other Democrat that was walking with them came out and said he never heard any of those words uttered. It is just a publicity stunt to make the Tea Party look bad. Funny there is no audio or video evidence of anything like that taking place at any of these Tea Parties. They have been in the media spotlight yet nothing bad has come from one event. You never think we have been called honkies or crackers? I hear the N word all the time but it is from blacks using it, I have even been called the N word by blacks.

Sorry but I personally dont have one, but I don't think John Lewis, Emanuel Cleaver and Barney Frank would Lie about being called the "N" word as well as "Fa@#%*". I am African American and have been call the "N" word on numerous occasions, but unfortunately I did not have time to get a video camera to document it. So by your reasoning I guess it never occured.

Time for a change, we will not have what you are having, cancel the order. We don't like terd.

I thought the tea party wanted change until I saw they are backing the same ole Republicans that lead us into the worse recession since the great depression. If you really want change vote them all out and lets start over with term limits. We don't need the same ole same ole back in power. Maybe we should rename the tea party to the anti Obama party, since all I see is Obama and Demacrat bashing.

ihs, the remark shows you have no class at all as it is vile. Get it, vile? It is a sexist remark that CNN and MSNBC used, acting like it wasn't. You will not earn any respect here, if you use it again. I have not seen racism at any tea party event, furthermore, I am yet to see one make headline new, even liberal news stations don't have anything to show, on film or audio. You can continue to call tea partys, racist, however, what I saw were patriots. If you are going to accuse them of racism, put your money where your mouth is, give us the video, the soundbite, otherwise, don't bother to post. You are just supporting a lie.

I happen to turn on WNCT channel 9 this morning and the report about the Tea Parties came up.Well they asked one OLD man about it that was in the tea party and he he was so old he did not make any sense.Channel 9 would not dare interview someone that knew what was going on.If they did they would edit it or just not air it all.Well there were other protesters there and it was mainly Homosexual. They interviewed 2 of them and they basically said that the Tea Partiers were spewing Racism and Hate. These people were really hateful in the interview.I want to know where all this hate is from the Tea Parties. From what I have seen it is the Dumpocraps stiring the hate and playing the race and homosexualality card.

First off it's THE flood. I don't assume anything I haven't been told all of my life. I have been told countless times that only whites are capable of racism and it is something we are born with. I didn't make that up that is what some people, especially the ones who call tea partiers racists, believe. I don't agree with it but that is how many people think. I don't get your comment about it being the "black president's" fault. Who are you claiming is saying it then if not the tea partiers?

Flood.. you assume I meant white people when I said "the racist". I didn't. I have never heard a white person say it. Racism is not only white people, it is a taught thing among all races. I come from two different ones. Karen.. here is a new word for your vocabulary... Facts.... you don't have many. You make it obvious that you don't support what America was founded on or built on. As for the lack of non whites, people show up for what they support and believe in. Go to a 4th of July celebration and see who shows up and who don't. I still dare you all to read the Constitution as in my earlier post. Mabe 2% will try it.
