Tractor Trailer Overturns Killing Warsaw, NC Man In Duplin County

A tractor trailer slams into a Jeep overnight killing the driver as officials use the jaws of life to get him out.

It happened at the intersection of NC 903 and NC 24 in Duplin County just outside of Kenansville just before 1am Saturday.

Highway Patrol says the tractor trailer struck the jeep then rolled over on its top.

The driver of the trailer was 59-year-old Ervin Carlton of Warsaw, NC.

He would be trapped inside until members of the Kenansville Fire Department were able to get him out.

Carlton would later be pronounced dead at Wayne Memorial Hospital. The name of the jeep driver and condition have not be released at this time.

Highway Patrol is urging anyone who may have seen what happened to please give them a call.

They can be reached at 910-862-3133 or 1-800-334-7411.

A dark rural intersection, late at night...so sad. I didn't see it, but I pray for the trucker (God Rest His Soul), and the jeep occupant. Hope they find out what happened.
