Rebels Outnumber Union Soldiers At NC Re-enactment

If the Confederates had had these numbers, the war may have ended differently.

More than 3,500 Civil War re-enactors filled a field Saturday to re-create the largest and last major Civil War battle in North Carolina.

The event happens every five years on the anniversary of the 3-day battle that saw a small Confederate force led by Gen. Joseph Johnston overwhelmed by more than 60,000 of U.S. Gen. William Sherman's troops as the war came to a close in 1865.

This weekend, however, Southern soldiers outnumbered the Northern contingent 2-to-1 at the battle of Bentonville.

It's a recurring problem for Southern Civil War re-enactments. Northern reenactment regiments have to travel a lot farther to get to these events and few Southerners want to play a Yankee.

Mr Yankee to you and Dave, this is about our history as a nation. It is done by a band of brothers of both north and south. Since either of you have an education about history...they learn how people lived in the times, to let their children know what it was like. Now, with you shallow posts, lacking of facts and just to snicker at those that do this, Neither of you know who rules right now. DC rules currently, or your candle went out. Don't worry about the south rising again, worry about the American people. With this heathcare socialist program...northern states don't like it either. Also, historically, if the south would have had the weapons the US Army wasn't the yankee who would have won. Sorry, I am a family from Pennsylvania....

I sure am glad you weren't my economics teacher. Because you sure ain't got a clue. Oh, and by the way, I would think that if the South had won the war the ruling party here would be the KKK. What does that say ?
