Rehabilitated Turtles Released Off NC Coast

Several rehabbed turtles are headed home.

Five green turtles from the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center and five loggerhead turtles from the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores were released where gulf stream waters have a constant water temperature of 70 degrees.

The release took place 40 miles southeast of Beaufort Inlet.

The Coast Guard Station Fort Macon crew used their 47-foot Motor Lifeboat to take the turtles, rehabilitation personnel and a person from the Carteret High School science department to the release location.

I hope they fair well in the "real world". Coming off a crack addiction isn't easy. Turtle Rehab is a great program. Helps them come out of their shell.
