UPDATE: Night Club Shooting Victim's Condition Improves

Police in New Bern are investigating a shooting at a local night club.

New Bern Police say the shooting happened at the Aces Club on 1019 Queen Street Sunday morning.

Police had responded around 2:30 am to the club on a report there was a man with a gun there. A search found no one with the description provided.

A second call was received at 3:45 am saying a man and woman had been shot.

Those victims are 28-year-old Joseph Heckstall and 26-year-old Nequia Fields.

Heckstall is in fair condition at Pitt Memorial Hospital. Fields was treated and released from Carolina East Medical Center.

Police have no suspects at this time.

    Dillinger: New Bern does plenty OK on its own when it comes to crime. Folks from New Bern have been stating otherwise for a few years, but it's obvious that they were wrong about the safety there vs. other regional locales. New Bern has a whole lotta crime for a small city.

    The suspect probably stopped off for a shooting/cheeseburger in Greenville...on his way home to Rocky mount.
