Former and current employees have sued AAA Carolinas claiming the travel organization discriminated against them based on race and sex.
The Charlotte (N.C.) Observer reported Saturday that the travel company refused to comment on the case that was filed in Charlotte last month.
The employees who filed the lawsuit work or worked at AAA's car care and towing services in Charlotte.
Trevor Fuller is an attorney for the employees. Fuller said most had filed complaints with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission first and the EEOC has issued a "right to sue" notice.
The workers complained that less qualified white workers were promoted over experienced black employees and that substantial pay gaps existed between black and white workers.
